An article from The Independent of Friday, 11 June 2010 got me all excited this morning!

In the last part of the interview, Ethan Hawke, here to promote his latest movie Brooklyn's finest, confesses that:

"Meanwhile, he is continuing to work on projects with his close friend Richard Linklater, who has directed him in several films. He's almost certain that there will be a sequel to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. "I know Rick and Julie [Delpy] and I will do something else together. We're always emailing each other with ideas."

Oh, that would be AWESOME!

  1. All those who love BSBSet would love a sequel, naturally. These films are a window through which the viewers see their world, among other things. Of all the things that the 3 principals will be considering ( Hawke "...we have been emailing each other ..." ) may I suggest Deply remains French and not Americanized, before it may need to be. In Sunset she was getting "more American" when in fact she is French. Sure, she studied at NYU. But it is so much more romantic if she is French. Just recall what impact on you when she says " no,no,no,no..." It is so much more effective than if she had just said " no way." The fact that Delpy is so accomplished threatens her French character. If she can forget about her americanization, her eloquence in English, she will come across as so much more alluring being authentically French. It will testify to the fact that love is beyond cultural barriers, even if marriage demands the bridging of such barriers.

Imagine the girl Jesse met on the train to Vienna in Before Sunrise is an American. It would almost change the very character of the film and its sequel. So the 3rd film should ideally have Delpy being still very French. Other aspects, of course, depend on their ( Linklater,Delpy & Hawke ) collaboration and how they want to develop the central relationship.

Isn't it enticing for those of us who love BSBSet ?!
